Music - Connection - Creativity

Meaningful musical experiences for children and families

Mini Mindful Musicians creates inclusive, creative music experiences for children and families, bringing together music, movement, play and connection.

Founded and led by Anjana, a Person-Centred Psychotherapist, Early Years Music Educator and mum,

the work is rooted in the belief that children thrive when they feel safe, accepted, connected and free to express themselves.

Anjana is a specialist Early Years Music Educator and was the first person in London to achieve the CME qualification in Early Childhood Music Education. Alongside her work in music, she is a qualified Person-Centred Psychotherapist, bringing a relational and emotionally aware approach to everything Mini Mindful Musicians offers.

Depending on the project, Anjana works alongside a changing collective of guest musicians, artists and specialist facilitators, allowing each programme to be shaped around the children, families and communities taking part.

From early-years music sessions to community projects, songwriting, creative workshops and other funded programmes, the emphasis is always on making music with families rather than simply performing or teaching them.

OUR APPROACH

There isn't one right way to join in.

Children can sing, dance, play, watch, listen, move around, come closer, step away and return when they're ready. We aim to create spaces where children and their grown-ups can participate in ways that feel comfortable and authentic to them.

Our sessions combine live music, instruments, movement, sensory exploration and opportunities for connection and creativity. Many families describe our sessions as having “a different feel to your usual music class.” We aim to create a relaxed atmosphere, placing well-being and connection at the heart of the experience.

Anjana's psychotherapy training informs the relational values behind the work, while Mini Mindful Musicians remains first and foremost a creative music programme - not therapy. For 1:1 Therapy please enquire via email.

INCLUSION & BELONGING

Mini Mindful Musicians is proudly queer-led. Anjana brings her own experience as a queer mum to the heart of the work, with a particular passion for creating spaces where LGBTQIA+ families feel genuinely welcome and represented. We want Mini Mindful Musicians to be a space where all families feel seen and welcome. We celebrate different cultures, ethnicities, languages, disabilities, neurodivergence, genders and family structures, single-parent families, adoptive families and families formed in lots of different ways. We choose songs, stories, books and resources that reflect the children and families around us, rather than presenting one type of family or childhood as the “norm”.

We know we won’t always get everything right, so we listen to the families we work with and keep learning.
